Okay, so it’s not clear exactly where this photo, posted by songwriter Justin Tranter, was taken, but it certainly appears that Selena Gomez, 24, is in a recording studio! In the pic, she’s seen applying eyeliner in a compact mirror, and Justin captioned it, “Music and love.” The two worked together a ton on Sel’s last album, Revival, and the fact that he mentions music in his message definitely makes it seem like they’re hard at work on something new!
Obviously, fans were sent into a frenzy when this image was posted, and even Nick Jonas, 24, left a comment — the praising hands emoji! Nick and Selena dated when they were much younger, but there hasn’t seemed to be any bad blood recently, and his reaction is exactly how we feel.
It’s unclear exactly when we’ll get to hear these new tunes, but it’s been reported that the “Same Old Love” singer has been working on them since she went on hiatus and into treatment at the end of summer. “She wrote lots of lyrics in treatment,” an insider revealed to Us Weekly. “She has so many ideas.”
Selena went through a lot this year, so we can imagine she has a ton to pour into her songs! Earlier this week, her graphic designer and longtime friend, Ryan Butler, also assured a fan that more music was coming “soon,” so we’ve certainly been getting a bunch of hints lately that this is definitely on the way.
For her part, Selena has been keeping a very low profile. She didn’t make her first public appearance following her break from the spotlight at the American Music Awards on Nov. 20, and on Thanksgiving, she posted her first Instagram since August to send love to her fans. We’re ready for that to change — but only when she’s ready, of course.
